Join us on Saturday, 29th March 2025, for Ireland’s ultimate adventure challenge. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, part of a team, or a family looking for a fun and active day out, Splash N Dash offers something for everyone.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Blessington Lakes and Russborough House, this unique multi-sport event combines running, cycling, and kayaking across four exciting courses.
Choose Your Challenge
28.5km Family-Friendly Challenge
Perfect for beginners, families, and participants aged 12 and over, this course is designed to be fun, achievable, and full of beautiful scenery. Whether it’s your first adventure race or a shared family challenge, this is the course for you.
33km Team Challenge
Gather your squad and tackle this team-focused adventure together! Each of the four team members takes on a specific leg of the course:
- Cyclist (8km): Kicks off the challenge.
- Kayakers (1.5km): Two members paddle as a team.
- Runner (10km): Conquers the scenic lakeshore trail.
- Cyclist (13.5km): Brings the team to the finish line.
A perfect option for friends, colleagues, or clubs, this challenge focuses on teamwork and fun. Participants must be 18 years or older.
Other Course Options
- 74km Challenge: For seasoned endurance athletes.
- 43km Challenge: A balanced mix of running, cycling, and kayaking.
- 42km Dual Challenge: A non-kayaking option for duathlon enthusiasts.

Safety Information
Rules of the Road
- All participants must stop at stop signs and yield to traffic where necessary.
- Cyclists must follow marked routes and ride single file unless overtaking.
- Respect all other road users, including pedestrians and vehicles.
- Runners crossing roads at transition areas will be guided by marshals to ensure safety, but participants must remain vigilant at all times.
Kayak Safety
- All kayakers must wear buoyancy aids and helmets (cycling helmets are permitted for this leg).
- Safety boats will patrol the lake to provide assistance if required.
- Participants should follow the directions of safety marshals both onshore and on the water.
Transition Area Safety
- Transition areas will be clearly marked and marshalled to ensure smooth changes between legs of the race.
- Participants must dismount from bikes and proceed on foot through the designated areas.
- Be mindful of other participants to avoid congestion or accidents in these high-traffic zones.
Route Familiarity
Participants in the 74km, 43km, and 42km Dual Challenge must be familiar with the course beforehand, as only major junctions and transitions will be marshalled or signposted. Maps are available on the website.
What to Bring
Clothing & Gear
- Comfortable running and cycling gear suitable for all weather conditions.
- Helmet (compulsory for cycling and kayaking).
- Your own bike in excellent working condition (road, hybrid, or mountain bike).
- Trail running shoes for mixed terrain.
- Lightweight waterproof jacket in case of rain.
Other Essentials
- Water bottle or hydration pack.
- Snacks or energy gels for longer courses.
- Sunscreen and sunglasses (even in spring).

- Listen to the Marshals: They’re here to keep you safe and guide you through the course.
- Follow Safety Rules: Whether cycling, running, or kayaking, always prioritise your safety and that of others.
- Take It at Your Pace: Splash N Dash is a challenge, not a race. It’s all about enjoying the experience, so don’t feel pressured to keep up with anyone else.
- Cheer Each Other On: The camaraderie among participants is what makes Splash N Dash so special. Give a shoutout to your fellow adventurers!
Your safety is our top priority. Here’s what you need to know:
- First Aid: The Civil Defence team will be stationed at key points along the route and in mobile patrols. They’re here to assist with any medical emergencies.
- Safety Marshals: Positioned at major junctions, crossings, and transition areas to guide and support you.
- Safety Boats: Patrolling the kayak course to provide assistance on the water.
- Emergency Contact: If you or another participant requires urgent assistance, call 089 2299458 or notify the nearest marshal immediately.
- Transition Areas: These will be clearly marked and marshalled. Please follow the instructions to ensure smooth and safe transitions between legs.

- Celebrate Your Success! Cross the finish line at Russborough House and soak in the sense of achievement.
